The Slow Writer
One of my biggest bottlenecks in having writing as a career is delivering on time.
I am a slow writer. No matter what I do to deliver my best optimal work. I need time which often goes over the agreed upon deadline. For every full length write-up I have many rabbit holes to go through. I have to understand the topic inside out before writing about it. I have this thing where I should know about the topic better than the reader.
I don’t think anyone would want to work with me, if I broadcast myself as the slow writer.
But that’s the truth.
The slow here doesn’t mean procrastination. It’s my due diligence where I rewrite a lot.
My writing process in one word is rewriting. Each new draft is my attempt to refine my thoughts, reshape my arguments and polish every sentence until it speaks with the intended depth and clarity.
And that takes time.
I want to improve. I don’t want to be ‘the slow writer’ forever. But I have no intention to start cutting corners or sacrificing quality just to work faster.
